CHARLOTTE, NC - Holidays at the Hall is getting much bigger this year. NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick, joined with his son Keelan, helped usher in a new tree lighting ceremony, when they flipped the switch Saturday night.

"We can make it here in about ten minutes, and be amongst the people," Harvick said. "We had a good time tonight, and Keelan, we lit the tree didn't we?"

Keelan stole the show early on, especially after revealing his ideal Christmas gift, a race car. After that, all eyes turned to the towering tree.

"I've never seen anything like that before," said Jayden Adams, event attendee. "That tree is huge, it's awesome."

The finished product is a thirty-three foot Christmas tree, fully decked out with LED lights. The NASCAR Hall of Fame staff said the tree arrived in pieces, and it took a lot of work to put it together.

Harvick and his family said they were happy to join the community for this new event, and the Hall staff said fans can get used to seeing this sight every year in the plaza.

"This is a family affair," said Winston Kelly, executive director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. "We're just so excited to have the community out here, and to just kick off Holidays at the Hall, here at the NASCAR Hall of Fame."

"Learning and knowing about the things that are going on," Harvick said. "It's good for us to help keep us entertained during the off weeks."
