NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 21 of 25 – Las Vegas Motor Speedway

ONE TO WIN: Four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion and most recent race winner, Ron Hornaday will once again be behind the wheel of the No. 2 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Chevrolet Silverado this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Hornaday is looking to add to his winning record this weekend by visiting the 1.5-mile track, after capturing his 50th Truck Series victory at Kentucky Speedway. In 10 starts at Las Vegas, Hornaday has captured one pole, five top-five and seven top-10 finishes. The veteran driver has also been credited with leading 152 laps and completing 1568 of 1569 laps raced at the track.

CHAMPION DUO: The No. 2 Champion Chevrolet and four-time Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday will proudly sport a red and black paint scheme featuring Champion’s automotive filter products on the tonneau cover this weekend at Las Vegas. This Saturday’s race will mark the second time this season the world leading automotive parts manufacturer has been primary sponsor of a KHI Chevrolet. Champion was on board the No. 33 Chevrolet with Hornaday at Michigan International Speedway on August 20 where the team finished seventh.

FIVE TO GO: With only five remaining races left in the season, the No. 2 KHI Truck Series team is in the running for the Owner’s Championship, leading the No. 18 team by 41 points heading into Las Vegas. Hornaday is currently fifth in the Driver’s Point standings, and gained five points with his win at Kentucky Speedway. The driver sits 42 markers from the lead.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 KHI team will unload chassis No. 061 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend. This chassis was driven by Clint Bowyer at Atlanta Motor Speedway on September 2 and KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick at Chicagoland Speedway on September 16. Both drivers qualified and finished second for the events. Most recently,  Hornaday qualified on the outside pole with this chassis and raced to victory lane at Kentucky Speedway on October 1.

MOST POPULAR DRIVER: There is still plenty of time to vote for the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Most Popular Driver award. Hornaday has taken home the honors twice, most recently in 2005 and 1997. Fans can vote for Hornaday now through November 17 on NASCAR.com.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: The Truck Series record books were updated on October 1, after Hornaday took the No. 2 Hollywood Casino Chevrolet Silverado team to victory lane at Kentucky Speedway earning his 50th Truck Series career win and the team’s fifth victory of the season.  The trip to victory lane marked Hornaday’s third win of the season and gained the driver five points in the championship battle, now 42 points behind the leader with five races left in the season.

HORNADAY’S THOUGHTS ON LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY:
What are you most looking forward to at Las Vegas?
“My wife Lindy and I always go out a couple days early to make sure we get to enjoy ourselves and have a good time. I’ve always enjoyed racing in Las Vegas. This is one of those tracks that I don’t have a victory at so that is definitely our priority this weekend. I am back with Bruce Cook and the No. 2 truck team this weekend and really looking forward to getting on the track to see what we have. This team is on top of their game and with five races to go in the season, its game time.”
