Ron Hornaday Nashville Superspeedway Advance 8.3.10

08/03/10

ONE YEAR LATER: Last year at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway, Ron Hornaday and the No. 33 team recorded their fifth consecutive victory.  Hornaday added his name to the record books next to Richard Petty and Bobby Allison as the only three drivers to win five consecutive races in any of NASCAR’s three elite divisions.  The win last season also marked Hornaday’s first and only victory at Nashville Superspeedway.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM: Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) is proud to welcome new partner Nestlé Purina Petcare to the KHI family of sponsors.  The Purina/Beneful brand will be making its NASCAR debut this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway.  The St. Louis based company promotes responsible pet care, humane education, community involvement and the positive bond between people and their pets.

LAP LEADER: Hornaday is second on the Nashville Superspeedway laps led list.  Hornaday has led 145 laps over the six races at the 1.33-mile oval.  Mike Skinner has led a total of 251.  Prior to last year’s win, Hornaday had only led 30 laps but in 2009, he led 115 laps in route to his first career victory at Nashville.

Notes from the Professor: Quotes from Ron Hornaday:
HOW DOES IT FEEL GOING BACK TO NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY ONE YEAR AFTER YOUR FIRST WIN AT THE TRACK?
“It’s cool to look back on it and remember the win.  I was just so excited to finally get that beautiful Gibson guitar.  That is a very cool trophy.  The thing about Nashville is that KHI has run very well there with both our Truck and Nationwide programs.  When we were in Nashville earlier this spring, Kevin and I just missed the set-up by a little.  We have notes and are better prepared to go back to Nashville.  I know we’re going to have a great truck.  I hope we have the same result as last year.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 33 Purina/Beneful team will take chassis No. 048 to Nashville Superspeedway.  Most recently, Kevin Harvick drove this truck to victory lane at Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway (GIR). Harvick recorded his first pole and fourth Truck Series win of 2010 at GIR.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last weekend at the inaugural Truck Series event at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Hornaday and the No. 33 team had a solid top-10 run going. However, under the first green-white-checkered restart attempt, Hornaday was involved in an on-track incident which sent him careening into the inside retaining wall.  The crash resulted in a 29th-place finish for the No. 33 team.
