Ricky Carmichael Talladega Superspeedway Advance

10/26/09

FIRST KEVIN HARVICK INC. START:  Ricky Carmichael will return to the site of his first Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) start this weekend at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. The most successful motocross racer in history made his KHI debut last season at the 2.5-mile track in an ARCA car.  Carmichael started the race from the ninth position and was running in the top 10 when the right-rear tire exploded, destroying the body of the car and was unable to finish.

BEFORE THE RACE: QUOTES WITH DRIVER RICKY CARMICHAEL:
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON RETURNING TO TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY?
“I’m very excited to be able to go back to a track I have already competed at.  Even though this will be my first Truck Series start at Talladega, I have competed before in other equipment.  It will be fun to not have to spend the majority of my time ‘learning’ the track; I can now concentrate on learning more about the air and how to use it to my advantage.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 4 Monster Energy team will take chassis No.031 to Talladega Superspeedway.  The last time chassis No. 031 took to the track was at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway with Carmichael behind the wheel.  Carmichael was running fourth in the Nextera Energy 250 when he was collected in an on-track incident and finished the event in the 24th position.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick climbed behind the wheel of the No. 4 Bounty Chevrolet.  Harvick qualified third and looked to be a threat for the win, however on lap 66 the No. 4 truck cut down a left-rear tire and went two laps down to the leaders. Showing their perseverance and how strong of a truck they had the No. 4 team battled back and collected both of their laps back from the leaders and managed to work their way back to the fifth position to take the checkered flag.
