O ESTADO HOOSIER (THE HOOSIER STATE): Nelson Piquet Jr. will pilot the No. 8 Bozzano/Jontex Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) entry this Friday night as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series makes its way to Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. The AAA Insurance 200 will be the Brazilian native’s first career start at the 0.686-mile oval.
INDIANAPOLIS ACHIEVEMENTS: Six different drivers have competed at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis for KHI during the past seven seasons. With 11 starts, the organization has three wins, six top-five and seven top-10 finishes and a total of 439 laps led at the short track. The KHI stable holds an average starting position of 10.1 with an average finish position of 8.1 at the oval track.
CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 8 crew will unload chassis No. 048 when they head to Lucas Oil Raceway. This is the same chassis the team competed with at Phoenix International Raceway, Darlington (S.C.) Raceway and most recently at Dover (Del.) International Speedway.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Nelson Piquet Jr. returned to Nashville Superspeedway last Friday night for his second-career appearance at the 1.33-mile facility in the Truck Series and scored a fourth-place finish. The young driver’s top-five finish earned him honors as the highest-finishing rookie driver in the race. The event serves as his second top-five finish of the season after a second-place finish at Nashville in April.

How do you feel about heading to Lucas Oil Raceway for your first race at the track?
“Lucas Oil Raceway is another new track on the Truck Series circuit for me, and I’m excited to get to the track and learn about it. The season continues to be a learning experience, so I am enjoying going to the tracks I have not yet raced at. We did well at the last short track we competed at, and I’m hoping that some of things I learned at Iowa Speedway will be useful when we go to Indianapolis.”

What are the major characteristics of Lucas Oil Raceway?
“Lucas Oil Raceway is one of the only true short tracks on the Truck Series schedule. This track has a lot of character. It has long flat corners with only a little bit of banking. The fastest racing groove seems to run along the outside wall through the center of the turn which allows for a lot of side-by-side racing. Fans always get to see a great race at this track.”
What are you looking forward to about racing in Indianapolis?
“Lucas Oil Raceway is one of my favorite tracks so I can’t wait to get back there. I was the crew chief for the inaugural Nationwide Series race with Morgan Shepard almost 30 years ago back when it was Indianapolis Raceway Park. It is fun going back to a track you’ve found success at, especially when it happened during a milestone event. This track has a lot of history and I hope that the No. 8 truck will be part of that after the race there Friday night.”
