Quotes | Kevin Harvick

“Richmond has been a great race track for me over the years. It’s obviously a short track, but still really fast. I enjoy the style of racing that this track produces, and I am definitely looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend to see what kind of result we can walk away with.”

Notes | No. 5 Team

AT RICHMOND: Harvick’s six wins and 16 top-five finishes are most all-time in Nationwide Series competition at the .75-mile track. The two-time series champion has finished third or better in 13 of 24 career Nationwide Series starts at RIR. By leading 21 laps this weekend, Harvick would pass Mark Martin for most laps led at Richmond (1,205).

LOOP DATA: According to NASCAR’s Loop Stats, Harvick leads all Nationwide competitors in Driver Rating (121.6), Number of Fast Laps (505), Quality Passes (291), Pass Differential (+154),  and Laps in the Top 15 (3,611) over the past 18 Nationwide Series races at Richmond.

TIDE RIDE: Tide, an industry leader in detergent products, will be featured as primary sponsor of Harvick’s No. 5 Chevrolet at Richmond. The Bakersfield, Calif., native has taken Tide to victory lane twice, both in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition at Martinsville Speedway. Coincidentally, Tide previously sponsored a Rick Hendrick-owned No. 5 Chevrolet in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition from 1991 through 1993 with driver Ricky Rudd.

REMEMBERING TIM PLOGGER: This weekend the No. 5 car will carry a decal remembering Tim Plogger, former Kroger Director of Merchandising for the South Region. Plogger, who served in various roles during his 37 years with the company, passed away on March 25, 2014. An avid NASCAR fan himself, Plogger spearheaded Kroger’s involvement with the sport, including sponsorship programs with Harvick and Plogger’s home tracks – Martinsville Speedway and Richmond International Raceway.

JRM FRONT RUNNERS: JR Motorsports cars have combined to lead 211 of 347 laps in the past two Nationwide Series races at Texas Motor Speedway and Darlington Raceway. Harvick’s JRM teammate Chase Elliott earned victories in both events with Harvick finishing fourth and seventh, respectively. In 22 total starts this season, JRM cars have posted three victories, 10 top-five and 20 top-10 finishes.
