Quotes | Kevin Harvick

“Indianapolis is a special place to race. It’s definitely one of the more challenging tracks we race on, and you have to be very precise with everything you do. Because the straightaways are so long and the Nationwide car has less power than a Cup car, it’s even more important to keep your car turning and carry that momentum off the corners. Track position always comes in to play at Indy because things can get spread out in a hurry.”

Notes | No. 5 Team

AT INDIANAPOLIS: Harvick has competed in one of two Nationwide Series races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, finishing fifth in last year’s event. In 13 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at the track, Harvick has one win (2003), four top-five and seven top-10 finishes.

MORTON BUILDINGS: Indianapolis marks the first of two races with Morton Buildings featured as primary sponsor of Harvick’s No. 5 Chevrolet. Based in Morton, Ill., Morton Buildings specializes in constructing high-quality, long-lasting structures, from farm shops, equestrian facilities, hobby buildings, garages, churches, municipal buildings, airplane hangars, custom homes, commercial structures and general storage buildings.

KENTUCKY WIN: In his most recent Nationwide Series race on June 27, Harvick and the No. 5 team won at Kentucky Speedway. Restarting second with five laps to go, Harvick passed Kyle Busch and held off hard-charging Brad Keselowski to earn his second win of the season.

TOP-10 STREAK: Harvick has recorded 18 consecutive top-10 finishes in Nationwide Series competition dating back to 2013. It’s the second-longest top-10 streak of Harvick’s career, as he went 23 races in 2006-07.

NEW FLEET: JR Motorsports will debut three new, untested chassis this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for drivers Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick and Regan Smith.

TEAM TO BEAT: JR Motorsports owns a Nationwide Series-leading seven wins through the season’s first 18 races with four different drivers (Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne and Regan Smith). Before 2014, the organization posted 12 victories in its first eight seasons of full-time Nationwide Series competition.
