Kevin Harvick No. 2 Truck Series Advance: New Hampshire Motor Speedway

09/19/11

HARVICK IN NEW HAMPSHIRE: Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) co-owner Kevin Harvick returns to the driver’s seat of the No. 2 JEGS Chevrolet Silverado this weekend for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Saturday afternoon race will be Harvick’s sixth start in the series at the 1.058-mile track. In the verteran driver’s first five starts at the Loudon facility, he has earned two top-five and four top-10 finishes and has led 108 laps.

RUNNING IN CIRCLES: The No. 2 KHI Silverado will feature the JEGS paint scheme during the F.W. Webb 175. The Truck Series event will be the high-performance parts company’s second appearance as primary sponsor of the No. 2 Chevrolet. Last season, Harvick piloted the JEGS.com entry to a third-place finish after starting from the outside pole at New Hampshire. JEGS, a high-performance parts company, has focused sponsorship efforts in the drag racing world and has recently made an appearance in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series, Truck Series and the Whelen All-American Series as a contingency partner.

KHI SUCCESS AT LOUDON: Over the span of eight seasons, KHI entries have made a total of 13 starts at the 1.058-mile quad-oval. Six different drivers have helped KHI collect some impressive statistics that include one pole, two wins, six top-five and nine top-10 finishes. KHI drivers have also been credited with leading 586 laps at New Hampshire.

WIN HAPPY’S CHEVY: One lucky winner will not only help children in need, but will take home Harvick’s 2011 Camaro 2SS Coupe. The vehicle, exterior color and trim packages were hand-picked by the driver himself and include black leather interior with inferno orange accents, 21” machined aluminum wheels, 6-Speed manual transmission, V8 engine, quarter flares and more. Proceeds will be used to further the mission of the Kevin Harvick Foundation through programs such as Kevin’s Krew, Chase Your Dreams Scholarships and the Kevin Harvick Athletic Scholarship Fund. Less than 400 tickets remain for purchase. For more information, go to: http://www.winhappyschevy.com/

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 JEGS team will unload chassis No. 057 this Saturday in Loudon. Harvick competed with this chassis at Martinsville Speedway back in April where he drove to a fourth-place finish. David Mayhew finished third at Iowa Speedway in July with this chassis, and most recently Elliott Sadler used this chassis during his run at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis in July.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Harvick joined the No. 2 Bad Boy Buggies team as the Truck Series made its way to Chicagoland Speedway for the Fast Five 225 last Friday evening. Harvick started the race on the outside pole and led the most laps (99) before developing a tire vibration late in the race leaving the No. 2 machine to cross the finish line second. The KHI co-owner’s solid finish allowed the No. 2 team to remain in the lead of the Truck Series Owner’s Point standings.

HARVICK’S THOUGHTS ON NEW HAMPSHIRE:
What are your thoughts heading into the race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway?
“Tracks like New Hampshire have been really good to me. The flat-style track makes for some great side-by-side racing so I’m really looking forward to getting back into the truck this Saturday. It’s one of those places where you have to get through the center of the corner and get up off the corner wide open. That makes it really hard to get through the center of the corner and turn good like you need to. Getting up off the corner under full power without getting loose is really tricky.  Passing is harder there than at most places because it’s so hard to make your truck work getting up off the corner. That makes track position probably the most important factor when racing at New Hampshire. We did well here last season, and with the momentum the No. 2 team has right now I’m excepting good things to come out of this race.”
