Ken Schrader Nashville Superspeedway Advance

08/02/10

GOING FOR FOUR: Ken Schrader returns to the No. 2 Moore’s Marinade Chevrolet Silverado this weekend at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway, making his fourth start for Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI). Schrader has brought the No. 2 machine home in the top 10 in all three of his previous starts for the organization this season, earning a best finish of fourth at Iowa Speedway in July.

TAMING THE CONCRETE JUNGLE: Schrader has only competed once at Nashville Superspeedway in NASCAR’s top-three series, earning a 22nd-place finish in the Truck Series in 2007. However, in two Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Series starts at the 1.333-mile concrete oval, Schrader has one victory (2001) and one top-five finish (2004).

BIG NUMBERS: This weekend’s race at Nashville Superspeedway will be Schrader’s 95th career start in the Truck Series and 943rd start in NASCAR’s top-three series (Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck). In his 26 years in the sport, Schrader has completed a whopping 242,755 laps in NASCAR competition, more than the career laps completed of KHI teammates Ron Hornaday (88,873) and Elliott Sadler (139,709) combined.

TIME TO MARINADE: Moore’s Marinade will make its NASCAR debut when it appears on the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado this weekend in Nashville. The growing Alabama-based company makes two flavors of marinades (Original and Teriyaki) and three different wing sauces (Buffalo, Honey BBQ and Asian Teriyaki).

THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: Ken Schrader

What are your thoughts on Nashville Superspeedway?
“I traditionally haven’t been a fan of concrete tracks, but I’ve got a win and a top five at Nashville Superspeedway in ARCA, so I’m actually looking forward to going back. It’s all about how your equipment feels at Nashville, so I’m feeling good going into the race in a KHI truck.”

In your three starts for KHI, you have scored all top-10 finishes, including two straight top fives. How do you feel about your performance so far with the organization?
“I can’t thank Kevin and DeLana [Harvick] enough for the opportunity to drive for them in the Truck Series. It feels great to go out there and be competitive week in and week out. I may be getting older, but I can still drive a racecar or truck. The No. 2 truck has had a lot of success this season, and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to go to Victory Lane with this team before the end of the year.”

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: After earning his first career Truck Series pole award, Elliott Sadler earned his first career Truck Series win in the inaugural Pocono Mountains 125 at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. The win, which was KHI’s third consecutive victory, made Sadler the 21st driver in history to win in all of NASCAR’s top-three series.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 team will utilize chassis No. 046 this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway. Although this will be the first time chassis No. 046 will be used by the No. 2 team, Ron Hornaday raced the chassis with the No. 33 team at Iowa Speedway in July. Hornaday finished 24th after a multi-truck accident put the No. 33 team 34 laps down.

About Moore’s Marinade
Over 40 years ago, Moore’s Marinade was introduced at a steakhouse in a small Alabama town of Jasper, just north of Birmingham. In 1991, C&M Food Distributing Inc., which is a subsidiary of Fenwick Capital, purchased Moore’s Marinade and introduced the product to the grocery industry. This unique hickory flavor marinade, with a delightfully flavorful taste, quickly became well known throughout Alabama and the South. Due to the popular demand for the Original Hickory flavor C&M decided a complement was needed. In 2004 Teriyaki Marinade and the Buffalo Wing sauce was launched. In 2008 the Honey BBQ Wing and the Asian Teriyaki Wing Sauces were added. All Moore’s flavors are gluten free except the Asian Teriyaki Wing Sauce. All sauces are available in 16 oz. bottles and gallons.
