Ken Schrader Iowa Speedway Advance

07/06/10

WELCOME TO THE TEAM: This weekend, Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) will welcome new sponsors on both Truck Series entries at Iowa Speedway. While Ron Hornaday will sport the colors of Karl Chevrolet, Ken Schrader returns to the driver’s seat of the No. 2 with Premier Chevy Dealers on board. Premier Chevy Dealers is a collaborative of central Iowa Chevrolet dealers which includes Karl Chevrolet.

MAKING AN APPEARANCE: Ken Schrader and Ron Hornaday will be making several appearances throughout the weekend in support of their partnership with Premier Chevy Dealers and Karl Chevrolet. Both drivers will participate in an autograph session at Karl Chevrolet’s fan festival on Friday, July 9th. Following the festival, Schrader will head to Iowa State Fair Speedway to race a Dirt Truck Racing Association feature race on the 0.5-mile dirt oval. The racing action will begin with qualifying around 6:00 p.m.

KEEPING BUSY: Despite only running part time with KHI, Ken Schrader keeps his schedule full and his skills sharp by racing just about anything with wheels. Schrader has made over 32 starts since January in the Truck Series, ARCA, late models and modifieds, winning nine events so far this year. In the month of July alone, Schrader will make 16 starts, including the dirt truck race at Iowa State Fair Speedway.

THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: Ken Schrader
You don’t have any previous NASCAR starts at Iowa Speedway, so what is your mindset going into this weekend?
“I’m excited to be making my first NASCAR start at Iowa Speedway. We’ve got a lot going on this weekend with Premier Chevrolet and the dirt race at the fairgrounds, so there’s a lot to look forward to. In regard to the speedway itself, everyone who’s been there really likes it, a lot of people say that it’s very similar to Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. That’s a track I’ve done really well at in the past. I’ve made 45 starts at Richmond in the Cup Series, and in the Truck Series I’ve got four top-10s and one top-five, so I anticipate that it’s a track I can do well at.”

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: In his first career Truck Series start at Michigan International Speedway (MIS), Elliott Sadler overcame a flat tire and a rain delay to finish ninth, scoring his second consecutive top-10 finish for Kevin Harvick Inc.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 team will utilize chassis No. 45 this weekend at Iowa Speedway. No. 45 made its debut at Michigan International Speedway on June 12th with Elliott Sadler behind the wheel. Sadler scored a 9th place finish, the team’s 7th top-10 finish of the season.
