Elliott Sadler Daytona International Speedway Advance

02/10/10

TRUCK SERIES BOUND: Elliott Sadler returns to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series following a seven year hiatus, making his last Truck Series start at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway in 2003.  Sadler joins Kevin Harvick Inc. co-owner Kevin Harvick to pilot the No. 2 Truck for eight races in 2010.

DAYTONA DESIRE: Sadler has made 22 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway recording his best finish of second in the season opening Daytona 500 in 2002. He also has three Nationwide Series starts at the 2.5-mile superspeedway recording one pole in 1998. Last season Sadler came ever so close to score his first career win at the speedway in the Daytona 500. This season he adds the Truck Series event to his schedule in hopes of visiting victory lane at the historic track.

LAST YEAR YOU CAME VERY CLOSE TO WINNING THE DAYTONA 500, WHAT WOULD IT MEAN FOR YOU TO RECORD A WIN AT DAYTONA?
“I’ve won the qualifying races a couple of times at Daytona and I’ve finished in the top five in the Daytona 500 a few times as well. I always look forward to racing there and it’ll be neat to be behind the wheel in a truck.”

DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A GOOD RESTRICTOR-PLATE DRIVER?  WHAT DOES A DRIVER NEED TO DO TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT DAYTONA?
“When you look back at Daytona Speedweeks the truck races have had some of the most exciting finishes. I haven’t drafted in a truck before and I’m sure it’ll be a little unique so I’ll spend practice and the first half of the race figuring out what it’ll take to be in the front when it gets near the end of the race. I’ve definitely had a lot of success on the restrictor-plate tracks and hopefully I’ll be able to have a strong run at Daytona. It’ll be interesting to see how everything plays out at the end of the race. The trucks tend to come down to the last 50 feet of the race before you know who is going to be able to pull off the win.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 Hunt Brothers Pizza team will take chassis No. 041 to Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.  Chassis   No. 041 is a new truck which has undergone extensive testing but has never seen a lap of competition.
