David Mayhew No. 2 Truck Series Race Advance:  Texas Motor Speedway

06/06/11

No. 2 MMI Services Chevrolet Silverado
NASCAR Truck Series Race 9 of 25 – Texas Motor Speedway

ROOKIE IN TEXAS: David Mayhew will climb into the No. 2 MMI Services Chevrolet Silverado for Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) this weekend for the WinStar World Casino 400K at Texas Motor Speedway. Even though the Atascadero, Calif. native will be considered a rookie for the race in Texas, he is no stranger to 1.5-mile intermediate style tracks. Mayhew has gathered NASCAR Camping World Truck Series experience at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway during the last two seasons, leading laps at each track.

MMI SERVICES JOINS FORCES WITH KHI: MMI Services is an independent well servicing contractor operating in California, Nevada and Arizona. While MMI Services is a new partner to KHI, they have been supporting Mayhew’s driving career for the past three seasons as a primary sponsor on his NASCAR K&N Pro Series Chevrolet.

KHI TRUCK SERIES SUCCESS AT TEXAS: Over the past seven seasons, KHI has gathered impressive stats at Texas Motor Speedway earning two wins, eight top-five and 12 top-10 finishes, and has led a total of 2,910 laps at “The Great American Speedway.” The KHI stable has an average starting position of 8.2 along with an average finishing position of 10.8 at the quad-oval. Four-time Truck Series Champion Ron Hornaday earned both KHI Truck Series wins back in 2008.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 MMI Services team will break out chassis No. 042 when they unload at Texas Motor Speedway.  This is the same chassis that KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick drove to a fifth-place finish at Dover (Del.) International Speedway in May of this season.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Clint Bowyer climbed behind the wheel of the No. 2 Bad Boy Buggies Chevrolet Silverado at his home track, Kansas Speedway, for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250, joining the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team for the third time this season. Bowyer and the No. 2 crew had the truck to beat during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 400th race. Starting from the second position, Bowyer ultimately led the most laps as he drove his way into victory lane, becoming the first Kansas native to win at Kansas Speedway.

MAYHEW’S THOUGHTS ON TEXAS:
How will you prep for your first race at Texas Motor Speedway?
“This will be my fifth start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series but my first series start at Texas. I’ve raced at Las Vegas in the Truck Series and have heard Texas is similar speed wise. I’m really looking forward to working with Bruce Cook and the KHI team. They build great trucks and this No. 2 team won last weekend at Kansas, so I know we’ll have the right equipment and team to put together a great run this Friday night.”
