Cale Gale No. 33 Truck Series Race Advance: Kentucky Speedway

09/26/11

BACK IN THE SEAT: Cale Gale returns to the driver’s seat of the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Chevrolet Silverado as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Kentucky Speedway for the Kentucky 225 this Saturday. Gale has spent the past few months focusing on his ARCA and Late Model racing since his last appearance in the Truck Series at Nashville Superspeedway in April of this season. The 150-lap race will be the Mobile, Ala., native’s first Truck Series race at the Sparta, Ky., facility.

KHI VICTORIES AT KENTUCKY: Throughout the past eight seasons, seven different drivers have climbed behind the wheel of trucks prepared by KHI for a total of 13 starts. Those seven drivers have put together a record which includes one pole, two victories, three top-five and seven top-10 finishes. KHI entries have also been credited with leading a total 148 laps at the 1.5-mile d-shaped oval.

RHEEM GOES PINK: Rheem will not only be primary sponsor of the No. 33 Chevrolet with Gale at Kentucky, but the KHI sponsor will pull double duty this weekend at Dover International Speedway, serving as primary sponsor of the No. 33 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with Clint Bowyer behind the wheel and KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick’s No. 29 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. On Sunday, Rheem’s familiar black and red colors will go pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month which begins nationwide on Oct. 1. Additionally, Rheem will launch “Chasing the Cure,” a month-long program created to support the national effort and to raise awareness of the Young Survival Coalition, a group dedicated to supporting women diagnosed with breast cancer that are under 40 years old. KHI co-owner DeLana Harvick will wear a special pink firesuit for the Sprint Cup Series race day, and a replica of the suit will be presented to the Young Survival Coalition.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 33 Rheem team will unload chassis No. 046 this weekend as the Truck Series makes their way to Kentucky Speedway. Four-time Truck Series champion, Ron Hornaday, has earned two wins thus far this season with this chassis, at Texas Motor Speedway in June and Atlanta Motor Speedway in September. Hornaday has also competed with this chassis at Dover International Speedway in May and at Kentucky Speedway back in July.

NO. 33 PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Searching for his 50th career win in the Truck Series, Hornaday kept his No. 33 Cooked Perfect Meatballs Chevrolet Silverado in the top 10 for the majority of last Saturday’s event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Despite a fast Chevrolet, the KHI team came across the finish line in the fourth position, the team’s ninth top-five result thus far this season.

THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: Cale Gale
What are your expectations going into the race at Kentucky?
“I’m feeling good about getting behind the wheel of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet this weekend and the chance to work with this KHI team. I’ve had the opportunity to gain some seat time during the past few months in the ARCA Series and with some Late Model races. I haven’t had the chance to race at Kentucky Speedway in the Truck Series yet, so I’m looking forward to experiencing the track for the first time in this series. I just love to drive so I’m excited to race wherever I go.”
