Event to Feature John Michael Carroll Concert, the Budweiser Clydesdales and More

ST. LOUIS (May 17, 2013) – Budweiser will honor area members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families with the Budweiser Red White and Blue Festival in Fayetteville, N.C., from 4 – 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Festival Park.

The event is open to the public and will feature a free performance by country music recording artist Jason Michael Carroll, whose first album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart featuring hit singles “Alyssa Lies” and “Livin’ Our Love Song.” Fellow country music acts Parmalee and Jamie Tate are also scheduled to perform.

“Anheuser-Busch has long been a proud supporter of the men and women who serve our country,” said Rocky Sickmann, director of military sales for Anheuser-Busch. “The Budweiser Red, White and Blue Festival highlights the start of summer when Americans come together to cherish friends, family and freedom, all of which are made possibly by the members of the U.S. military. The event will honor the contributions of those men and women to our country, and provide local troops and their families with an entertaining evening filled with live music performances and traditional summer festivities.”

In addition to the concert, the event will also include photo opportunities with the world-renowned Budweiser Clydesdales, an enduring symbol of Anheuser-Busch’s heritage, tradition and commitment to quality since 1933, as well as the No. 29 Budweiser Folds of Honor Chevrolet SS driven by Kevin Harvick in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Members of the All Veteran Parachute Team will perform an exhibition as part of the evening’s lineup. Festival attendees will be able to participate in a cornhole tournament and take a turn at being a member of a NASCAR pit crew with the Richard Childress Racing interactive pit crew car.

The festival will feature food and beverage vendors as well.

The Budweiser Red, White and Blue Festival is one component in a series of activations Budweiser has in store for its 2013 “Red, White and Blue Summer” initiative, which benefits the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Since 2010, Anheuser-Busch has raised more than $5 million for the Folds of Honor Foundation and provided more than 1,000 scholarships to the families of soldiers killed or disabled in service. From May 5 to July 4, 2013, with every purchase of Budweiser, the King of Beers will make a donation to the Folds of Honor Foundation up to $1.5 million.

“The Folds of Honor Foundation does such an amazing job of giving back to the families of soldiers wounded or fallen while serving their country,” said Sickmann. “Budweiser is proud to be a supporter of the organization.”

About Folds of Honor
FHF was founded in May 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 Fighter Pilot with the Oklahoma Air National Guard, PGA Professional, and USGA member. A decorated military pilot, Maj. Rooney has served three combat tours in Iraq. It was after his second tour, while a passenger on a commercial flight, that Maj. Rooney witnessed an event that would profoundly change his life. As the plane landed, the pilot announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, we have an American hero on board – Corporal Brock Bucklin. And his twin brother, Corporal Brad Bucklin, is accompanying him home from Iraq. As a sign of respect, please remain seated while Cpl. Bucklin’s family receives him in his final homecoming.” Maj. Rooney watched through the window of the plane as the flag-draped casket was lowered. He saw a family waiting for Brock, and a little four-year old boy waiting for his father. This tragic homecoming inspired Maj. Rooney to create the Folds of Honor Foundation. To learn more about FHF, visit www.foldsofhonor.org.
