2007 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series

Kevin kicked off the 2007 season with a WIN in the Daytona 500. It was his first Nextel Cup Series career win at the superspeedway, and the first with new sponsor, Shell-Pennzoil. Another first happened a few months later, when Kevin won his first NEXTEL All-Star event. He held off a tough charge by Jimmie Johnson in the closing laps to win the All-Star Challenge, taking home the $1 million dollar prize given to the winner of the non-points event. At Richmond Int'l Raceway on September 8, Kevin finished seventh in the Chevy Rock & Roll 400, securing his berth in the 2007 Chase for the NEXTEL Cup. Though luck wasn't on the side of Kevin and the No. 29 team - with issues such as flat tires plaguing him throughout the Chase - the team hung in there and fought their way to a tenth-place finish on the year.
