Harvick: Champion Still Most
Consistent

CONCORD, N.C. — Kevin Harvick, who finished fourth in last
year's Chase for the Nextel Cup, said he likes the changes made in this
season's format which puts more emphasis on winning each race.
"But it still all comes down to the guy who runs the best, week in and week
out, is going to win," he said. "That won't change."
Teammate Jeff Burton, who finished seventh, said the changes are "part of
what makes this the most difficult season I've ever gone into."
"I've been in this sport for a lot of years and I've never been in a season
that has this many changes," he said. "We've got the changes in the Chase,
the Car of Tomorrow will be introduced, and Toyota is coming in. The quality
of the cars trying to make each race will be at an all-time high and that
puts pressure on everybody."
In addition to his strong Cup run, Harvick won the Busch Series championship.
He completely dominated the second-tier division.
Some fear that if Cup drivers continue to raid the Busch series, it will
suffer. Harvick defended the practice, pointing out that fans like to see
big-name Cup drivers.
"It puts people in the seats," he said. "If you participate in every race,
you should be eligible for the title."
