I was wondering what is the best way for someone to
get into the upper levels of racing. I've been around racing all of my life
and worked for a track scoring for several years. Thanks!
I would try and call your local NASCAR track or some local race shops to see
if they have any kind of entry level position or maybe even an internship
program. I know a lot of people that work in my front office here at Kevin
Harvick Inc. got their start doing an internship with a race track or race
team.
Are you coming to Iowa Speedway again this year for the
East / West series, or the ASA Super Late Models? Matt Kenseth will be there
for the ASA’s and that would be great to watch the two of you duke it out.
Kyle Busch and Kasey Khane will be here one of those times as well. It would
be awesome to see you back at the Iowa Speedway kickin some butt! - Dallas W.
I will not be returning to Iowa Speedway this year. It really was a great
experience last year and I am sure Matt, Kyle and Kasey will have a lot of
fun. I give a lot of credit to Rusty and his team for designing such a great
place to race. Hopefully someday I can make it back to Iowa and race because
I had a blast.
I am a 62 year old "middlin" NASCAR fan but one of the
things I enjoy most is watching the interaction
between
Kevin and DeLana. My wife and I have been married almost 40 years and I see
many parallels in their situation and ours. I just wanted to congratulate
them both on successful careers and an obviously rich and productive marriage
and partnership. They are a wonderful example for young couples from every
walk of life. - Ed B., Columbia, SC
Thank you Ed. DeLana and I have a great relationship. I hear a lot of times
that people see a lot of similarities between their marriage and ours. On
another note, congratulations on 40 years of marriage.
Does it bother you that people call you "Kevin" even
though they’ve never met you? I was at the Martinsville Truck race in October
2007, and a boy of about 10 was yelling out "Kevin, Kevin" to get your
attention. It bothered me that he wasn’t calling you "Mr. Harvick" since he
didn’t know you personally, only knew you as a fan. So, I was wondering if it
bothered you that your fans frequently call you "Kevin" or if you just accept
it as part of being a celebrity. - Thanks, Michelle, Roanoke, VA
To be honest with you it doesn’t bother me one bit. I am just glad people are
calling me Kevin and not some other name. I try my best to say hello to as
many people as I can, but most of times I am so focused on racing and
qualifying that I block everything out, even my wife!
Just curious...have you ever been approached or even
thought about doing something like "A Day in the Life of Kevin Harvick?"
Maybe like having a sweepstakes for a lucky fan to spend a full 24 hour day
with you, like in the off-season when you weren't so busy. Thanks for your
time, Adam, Hickory, NC
DeLana and I have done a few reality shows on SPEED and FX where the cameras
have followed us around throughout the day and sometime weeks. To answer the
second part of your question, some of my sponsors in the past have done
national sweepstakes that give one lucky fan the opportunity to hang with me
and my crew during a race weekend. I’d never rule out a Harvick reality show
down the road.
Did you save some of Tony's hairy back Mary to sell on
ebay? Thanks, Cindy
I didn’t keep any of his back hair. Jimmie Johnson and J.D. Gibbs, who both
donated money for the event, got a special gift when they arrived at
Martinsville the following week. Someone presented them with a sheet of
laminate paper with Tony’s back hair inside. To make it even better, Tony
personally signed them.
Are you planning on defending your Dirt Track win at
Sharon Speedway this summer? I was there when you won it. It was an Awesome
night. - Lori J., Niles, Ohio
Sharon Speedway is a great track. I won my first ever dirt race there so it
is a special place to me. On another note, as of right now I am planning to
run three or four dirt races this season. Once I get everything confirmed I
will post the tracks I will be running at as well as the sponsor of the car
on my website.
Does DeLana dress you outside of work? You know all of
us wives find nice clothes and bring them home to hubby in hopes that he will
get with it. Has our precious D been behind you lookin' so spiffy??? -

DeLana is a big help when it comes to the clothes I wear. I don’t have a lot
of time to go shopping. She pretty much picks out my wardrobe for me when she
is out and about. I love shopping online and buying sneakers. I have a lot of
different pairs of PUMA shoes. I’m kind of a shoe freak.
