  Kevin's Diaries

Hello everyone,

I wanted to write and say thanks for all the support lately.  I have had a lot of success these last few weeks at tracks that we haven’t always had that much success, and look to carry that momentum into the next couple of weeks. As most of you know, I have had some great finishes at Bristol and Martinsville in the past. These two tracks are some of my favorites on the Sprint Cup circuit.  I grew up short-track racing in California and always look forward to the challenge of beating and banging on these tracks to get a win. Before heading to Bristol this weekend I had the opportunity to make two appearances for Richmond International Raceway.

My adventure started yesterday, where I made a stop in Richmond, Virginia to visit the local Coke bottling facility.  Most of you probably know, but Coke launched a new commercial last month with all the Coke drivers to promote Coke Zero. The filming of the commercial was hysterical. Coke pulled a fast one on me as well as all the other Coke drivers.  They had hidden cameras setup everywhere in the garage stalls at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. To tell you the truth, the lawyers caught Tony (Stewart) and me off guard. During a break Tony and I were just having a regular conversation about the upcoming season when the two Coke lawyers came over to us. I thought they wanted to join our conversation, but I was wrong once I saw the final cut of the commercial and saw the questions they were asking us made the commercial.  All in all it was a pretty funny commercial and I hope you guys enjoy it as well. While at the Coke bottling facility I had the opportunity to tour the building and meet a bunch of employees who are race fans.

Once that appearance ended, it was off to Philadelphia.  We were in town as special guests of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL).  It was a pretty cool experience because I got to go down to the locker room and exchange jerseys with Flyers center Jeff Carter. The Flyers are a very well run organization.  I had the opportunity to tour the arena, meet the players, talk to the media and do a question and answer session with local fans.  It was pretty neat to see all the Kevin Harvick fans in the Philadelphia area.  I want to say thanks to all the fans and fan club members who showed up to the game to show their support. After a very long day, it was time to go home and get some rest before the big weekend in Bristol.

I will be pulling the double again this weekend, running the No. 33 RoadLoans.com Chevrolet for KHI on Saturday in the Nationwide Series and the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet on Sunday.

On another note, don’t forget to tune into Tony Stewart Live on Sirius Radio Monday night at 8 p.m. as Operation Wax Smoke has finally arrived.  We reached the $100,000 mark, which will go to the Victory Junction Gang Camp.  Thanks to all my fans that helped us reach our goal.  You guys never cease to amaze me.  I have been waiting for this day to come for a long time.  Don’t forget I will be a guest host that night, so hopefully everyone will tune into channel 128 at 8 p.m. on Sirius Radio.

Thanks again and I look forward to talking with everyone soon.
