Kevin Harvick, No. 29 Chevrolet, Richard Childress Racing
This week: Harvick swept both races at Phoenix
in 2006. Last year he was 10th in this race and sixth in November. He has two
wins, three top-five and five top-10 finishes in 10 career starts. "The pace
is a little bit slower," Harvick said. "The cars fall off a little bit more.

I'm sure the weather will be different when we
go back. But the cars were a little bit faster than they were last time. The
races have been different there than what they have been in the past. I think
that will kind of come back as we get a better handle on the car every week.
I don't really see Phoenix as a short track. Even though places like Phoenix
and New Hampshire are only a mile, they both have a lot of room to race.
Phoenix is always a fun race track. There are always at least two lanes, and
sometimes even more, to pass. I always seem to do well at Phoenix, so I'm
excited to see what we can do with the Chevy this weekend."
Last week: Harvick just barely missed the top 10 at Texas by finishing
11th. "We had a good car today. However, we got a hole in the right front
grill, which turned the car to junk — so tight I could barely turn it,"
Harvick said. "But Todd Berrier (crew chief) and the guys fixed it, and ...
we turned laps quick enough to be a
top-five
car. We were able to salvage a good points finish."
Etc.: Harvick loves having his wife, DeLana, in racing as a partner at
Kevin Harvick Inc. "DeLana is a big part of what we do," Harvick said.
"And she is a huge supporter with me here every week. And to have a wife that
understands the sport and who really enjoys being a part of the sport is
something that makes my life a lot easier, and we both have been able to
enjoy a lot of things as a couple that most people don't get to enjoy."
